The Prime Minister set up the Social Exclusion Unit in 1997. Since then the Unit has led innovative thinking in addressing some of society's most difficult problems. We are working to create prosperous, inclusive and sustainable communities for the 21st century - places where people want to live that promote opportunity and a better quality of life for all.
