To initiate and implement projects to address ICT exclusion, North Lincolnshire Council has created the Digital Inclusion Unit, based at Normanby Gateway. This unit of ICT-skilled, socially-aware individuals has a remit to identify areas of digital exclusion within North Lincolnshire, and to develop solutions and to put into place actions to assist technically excluded groups access the profusion of e-services and information available. The Digital Inclusion Unit will take the lead for the council on a strategic commitment to ICT inclusion in North Lincolnshire.
These actions, alongside the Digital Strategy and Transformational Government programme, will increase the likelihood that excluded groups will benefit equally from technological improvements in service delivery as well as bringing a renewed focus on the use of e-inclusion as a route to social inclusion.
